How can i decorate this room with the ugly wallpaper I am not allowed to remove?

Its old ladyish, with blue flowers and I like more art deco/contemporary feel. I am willing to purchase A new bed/furniture as well but I live on the 3rd floor and cant get most large stuff up the stairs. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v235/g...

It's not so bad- I was envisioning gigantic blue roses...! Decorate with what you like, but go sparse rather that crammed- get plain straight lines in furniture, no curlicues and waves, Plain colors, not patterns when looking at bedcovers/curatins/cushions. Try timber blinds or a holland blind in a favorite/strong colour.

The plainer things are, the less granny-ish the room will look, and it will look tidy even when its isn't so tidy!!
Reply:you could hang a blanket most place you buy from will bring it up
Reply:It will not show too much.I would make the window the main site for the eye.Lacy curtains in whatever color you like and then the bed to go with the color scheme...
Reply:i like the room. get a different rug to put on the floor, such as a solid color or one with a simple design. from far away, the roses look like polka dots. go to ikea if you live near one. they have cheap, modern stuff. and they pack stuff in small, flat boxes, so it is easy to move to your room. the dresser has clean, sharp lines already, which is good. i don't know what colors or fabrics you like, because art/deco is a big category, so i can't tell you what to decorate with. just do what you like and your room will say you! Good Luck :)
Reply:it`s not ugly.
Reply:OK how about putting posters all over you wall instead of taking it off
Reply:Okay... can you paint it?? That's what I would do.

If you can't, you could consider putting up some really nice fabric (use a stapler... it works great and doesn't show when you take it off :) I suggest something very zen like bamboo....

If you can't do that, make sure you stay away from all oranges and yellows, which will make the flowers stand out even more.
