How do you cross pollinate flowers in Animal Crossing: Wild World?

I'm only one bug away from the Golden Net, and it's the Peacock Butterfly. However, I don't know how to cross pollinate flowers, so I can't get any Blue, Black, or Purple flowers. If you could be detailed, that would be great. Thanks!

How do you cross pollinate flowers in Animal Crossing: Wild World?
The best method for getting the hybrids is to plant the flowers arranged in a diamond pattern on the ground.

There is a nice hybrid guide here: http://www.animalxing.com/hybrids.php . It tells you which flowers to plant next to each other to get the different colors.

Why is there no blue food?

Given that the Blueberry is actually dark Purple, and that there may actually be several edible Blue Plants and Flowers, my question is not "what blue food is there?" but WHY is there no obvious blue food?

Why is there no blue food?
blue corn and blue potaoes.
Reply:Because of where the food comes from.

Plants usually are not blue, except on the flowers themselves, which humans rarely eat. Plants tend to be green to maximise the production of energy in their cells (photosynthesis). Blue light can be absorbed, but green is useless, hence why plants are mostly green (to reflect away the pointless green light).

Animals tend to live in or around plants (for food) or yellow sands. The usual, apparent colour of water may be blue, but fish hide on the bottom of the seabed for safety, which is brown or black. The colour of the animals' skins are coloured so they can blend in and be camouflaged, which makes them brown, black, green, yellow, or whatever.

Some animals are also red. This is to make them look poisonous, and a fair few of them are.

As almost all out food comes from plants or animals, this is why food tends not to be blue. But chemicals can change the colour of food if we want to make a nice design, such as the icing on a cake.
Reply:BLUE CORN, BLUEBERRIES, BLUE POTATOES, just to name the obvious. where you stay at? under a rock?
Reply:May be you can not find blue foods, but last summer Pepsi produced a kind of coke in blue color.
Reply:Maybe because certain bright colors, like a really obvious bright sky blue, are more likely to be used by wildlife for other reasons, like....

--signaling to potential mates (blue plumage in birds),

--signaling poisonous or foul smelling prey (colors in stink-bugs or poisonous amphibians),

--camoflauge, to either hide from prey or from predators (many birds and fish species use this coloration to hide, in the sky and underwater, from predators and prey)...

See a trend here? Coloration tends to be on the outside where it serves a purpose, and not inside the animal usually, where the "food value" of the critter is.

In addition....have you ever actually eaten a *green* orange (hint, not from it being less than ripe, ok?)? Or a *blue* slice of bread?

When certain colors *do* show up in the food content of an animal, this is usually a cue that there is significant fungal and/or disease presence in the tissue, meaning it's *spoiled*.

Just my two cents.
Reply:Blue corn grows naturally w/o dyes.
Reply:If you want a really rare steak you ask for it "blue".
Reply:Blueberries look pretty blue to me
Reply:there's blue jello isn't there?
Reply:Other than flowers, blue isn't a naturally occurring color in food.
Reply:I've seen cakes covered in blue icing.

Most natural food stuffs are fairly neutral in colour.
Reply:why fishes don't fly?
Reply:blue is unappetizing
Reply:now i want a blueberry muffin, see what you did
Reply:ASK GEORGE CARLIN, HE WANTS TO KNOW TOO...
Reply:A good question, makes one wonder why there aren't more blue foods, maybe they look to unappetizing to some
Reply:You listen to George Carlin, don't you??
Reply:there r these blue corn chips
Reply:Blue M%26amp;M's
Reply:Haven't you ever seen blue jello? It's really pretty and different, even though it is technically blueberry.

There is also a variety of corn which is blue.

Have a lovely rest of the day.
Reply:Blue is a high-frequency wavelength. It's harder to get energy from it than green, yellow or red. So, few plants grow in blue.
Reply:The bits in blue cheese are blue.
Reply:blue is holy, but using it in food like blueberries is evil
Reply:oh you are so wrong. Awhile back kraft macaronni and cheese had blues clues mac and cheese and it was blue.
Reply:danish blue vein cheese it is not all blue but has blue veins running through it
Reply:Purple is more appealing coming from for example a vegetable like an eggplant and yummy fruit like grapes. Red tomatoes %26amp; strawberries. Orange carrots %26amp; oranges. Yellow squash %26amp; bananas. Green beans %26amp; kiwi.
Reply:Blue eggs and ham???
Reply:Because blue is a color that is subconsciously keyed to the word "putrid", and would you want to eat something putrid? I didn't think so.
Reply:Most food is based on natural things that are grown. Blue is not a colour that occurs in nature very often. For example there are actually not that many blue flowers.
Reply:not sure, but did you know magarine is black and has been dyed yellow, no kidding
Reply:Blue smarties.

Is it too late to move a passion flower (blue). I want to move it to a sunnier place.?

I agree to a point with inteldizzy, but unfortunately we do not live in a perfect World. The plant you have is the most commonly grown passiflora in UK (passiflora caerulea), blue passion flower. I moved one in June last year, it wilted a bit but soon picked up and flowered normally. About 2 days prior to lifting soak it, I mean soak, to make all the roots and upper parts turgid. Prepare your new hole and soak this until full and allow to soak away before planting, add some long lasting fertiliser such as bonemeal or rose food. Water well in and shade from sun, should we get any, for about a week. You will the find the transplant has been a success.

Is it too late to move a passion flower (blue). I want to move it to a sunnier place.?
When plants are moved the roots stop taking up water for a while, but the water still escapes from the plant through the leaves, so they wilt. If you are moving a plant into dense shade you can do it at almost any time, but if you want to move it to sun, then you would be better waiting.

I have a rule that I only move plants when there is an 'r' in the month - i.e. not from may to august.

I get impatient when I know things need doing, but have learnt to wait or probably lose the plant.
Reply:i should probally think so yh i moved ma lavender before and now its dead so wish ya luck

How do you take care of a Blue Berry plant/flower?

I just bought this plant and want to know, the basic info of the plant. Thanks

How do you take care of a Blue Berry plant/flower?
I have blueberries growing in pots. The planting medium is extremely important. Using 1/3 peat moss, 1/3 pathway bark and 1/3 potting soil is what I use along with a handful of azalea food. Each morning I pour whatever coffee is left in my pot -- as well as the grounds. My biggest problem is keeping the birds away. You probably need to change the pH in your soil. The roots also are very shallow, so you need to keep your soil moist. Deep watering doesn't do the trick. Just water often and every six weeks throw a handful of azalea/rhodedendron food.
Reply:Well, I'm sorry but I don't know the zone areas that plants can or can not grow well in. If I want to grow a certain plant, I do. I have two Blueberry Bushes growing in big plastic flower pots, out by the swimming pool. They get so many Berry's, I have to give them away. I live in Southern California, you know, where Blue Berries can't grow. I guess someone forgot to tell them where they are. They like Acid soil. And lots of Mulch. When you plant them, put in about 1/3 Azalea potting mix,(if growing in a pot) Sprinkle some Iron Celate on top of the Azalea mix. then put in some Nitro Humus , put the plant in, and fill the rest with lots of mulch. Berries form on new shoots,so you need to trim the old ones off in the fall. Keep them moist but not wet. Watch out for Blue Jay birds, they love to eat them! Byee
Reply:I've listed 3 sources for you to read through. Even though the Internet has done amazing things for accessability of information, I still like to curl up with my magazines and catalogs. I think you'll find your answer in their articles.
Reply:The basics are moist acidic soil , high in organic matter, and at least 3/4 sun. Also you must have enough chill-hours for that cultivar . That's # of hrs %26lt;45F over the course of winter. The required # varies with variety . It will also help if you have at least two compatible varieties for pollination . Some are fine with self-pollination , but not all .
Reply:If you are talking about a Vaccinium cultivar it is a shrub.. it needs to planted in full sun and likes and acid enviroment I usually add a little sulfur when planting and give it an acid fertilizer if you don't mind chemical fertilizers Miracid will work fine if you are like me and want organic blueberry's, I top dress with cotton seed meal , manure and potash then mulch with sawdust. The plant is good to zone 3 and you will get more berry's if you plant more then one type. The smaller bushes have a more wild taste like a huckleberry, the high bush blueberry will have a much bigger and sweeter berry

Any natural way to make my nikko blue plant turn blue?

right now my nikko blue plants are flowering white or pink sometimes. any natural way to make them blue?

Any natural way to make my nikko blue plant turn blue?
Certain kinds of mulches will help acidify the soil. Pine needles spread around the base of your plant are good. leaves work great, especially oak leaves. I used regular cedar mulch on my hydrangea and I didn't have to put any aluminum sulfate on it this year. We keep them mulched year round but I still fertilize them with "Holly Tone" fertilizer for acid loving plants. They seem to really enjoy it. Its an organic fertilizer and it acidifies as well. Changing their color takes a little time so you will have to wait a little while to see results.
Reply:Try the forums at http://www.suburbangarden.com/ they are geared more toward this type of questions
Reply:The plant nursery will know what kind of fertilizer you should be using. Blue food coloring in the water also works--that's how they get those colored daisies.
Reply:The Nikko Blue ( Hydrangea macrophyllia ) produces blue flowers when in an acid soil and pink when in an alkaline soil.

This would indicate that your current soil is on

the alkaline side.

I'd suggest doing a pH test to confirm this and then checking the soil needs for any adjacent plants, if in an open garden. Then if you determine that all can handle an acidic environment , apply a low pH fertilizer (on the pH scale 7 is neutral, less than 7 is acidic.)

One trick that you may be able to use is to spray the area at the plant base directly with a weak vinegar ( acetic acid ) solution.
Reply:Find out what kind of soil they need, there are fertilizers

available for plants that need alkaline soil. But I know of one

person who put blue food coloring in the water and her snowballs

turned blue, another put red food coloring and her white flowers

turned pink.

Hope this helps
Reply:To get blue flowers, you need acidic soil. You can put aluminum sulfate around the plants (should be available at a garden store) or water them with an aluminum sulfate solution. Rabbit manure is an excellent acidifying fertilizer, as is cottonseed meal.

Want very low growing, colorful, self seeding flowers that don't need a lot of dead heading. Blue, purpleish?

VERBENA: vary by species.

V. bipinnatifida.

V. bonariensis.

V. X hybrida garden verbena.

V. rigida.

All different, all 8 inches to 18 inches high, with a spread of 18 inches to 3 ft spread. Always in bloom, self seeding, no problems with bugs or deceases, very drought tolerent, low water use, fast growing small ground cover or single plant, good for dry banks, boarders, hanging baskets, loves hot, dry, sunny places.

Colors range from white, pink, blue, purple %26amp; bright red. Easy to grow, plant %26amp; forget. Most good nurserys will have them in stock. Another great, but overlooked garden plant for the southwest (year around color) or as annual back east. Try 'um, you'll like 'um, and you'll tell your friends.

Want very low growing, colorful, self seeding flowers that don't need a lot of dead heading. Blue, purpleish?
You should state what zone you are in, what living conditions (how much water, sun, etc).

Also, why would a plant NEED dead heading? It's been my experience that dead heading does not extend flowering times. When a plant is ready to bolt, it bolts.

Of course, bear in mind that self-seeding means you are not dead heading... If you are dead heading, then no plant self seeds.
Reply:verbena. Height aprox. 8", spreads, self roots, roots easy in water, pretty. Want some of mine?

ajuga. height about 3", spikes of pale blue flowers, spreads, haven't tried rooting it.....yet
Reply:Viola's, some people call them miniature pansy's.
Reply:The best flower I can think of for the size and color you were wanting would be Blue Blazes. They are very hardy in many different soils and climates. They have very dark green leaves and beautiful blue-purple flowers. The flowers are about the size of a dime (a little smaller though). They will reseed themselves, but after the third year they will grow a little taller than the regular height of 4-6". You can find the plants at any home/garden center or get them faster by planting the seeds indoors. Either way they a non-invasive plant. And my best opinion.

Happy gardening!
Reply:Nice plant for Zone 5, Michigan here. Try Geranium 'Rozanne'. It blooms continuously from the end of June to frost. Flowers are big and a lovely shade of purplish-blue. Don't cut the plants back in the fall, though, wait til spring for bed clean-up on these. They start small in the spring but rapidly fill the area once they get going. Stays under 2 feet. Gorgeous.

(not the chain kind) and tell them that you are doing your wedding on a budget and want to know what is in season and cheap. I did all the flowers for my wedding for under $200 that way and I even had a toss bouquet.

Have the bridesmaids carry one or three (always carry odd #'s) of a beautiful long stemed flower instead of a bouquet and that is cheaper too.

I did gladiolas and each girl (5) had 3 stems tied with a ribbon and I had 5 white ones with 3 blush pink roses. The guys then had boutinears of gladiola buds. It was very unique, elegant and inexpensive.
Reply:Michaels..they even made my bouquets.

Why won't my blue passion flower bloom, it's got loads of buds but they will not open?

Your blue passion flower, passiflora caerulea, unfortunately will not flower outdoors this time of year in UK. I have one in my conservatory, it is in bloom, and hopefully I will have a flower on Xmas day to enable me to tell my grand kids the story of the Last Supper. I also have them outdoors, and look forward to seeing this exotic plant flower in full glory in the early summer. Roll on spring...............

Why won't my blue passion flower bloom, it's got loads of buds but they will not open?
Being a Passon Flower you need to give it lots of love
Reply:It's too cold in the UK now for the buds on your passion flower to open.Sorry to say,if the present cold spell continues,it may not survive a prolonged hard frost. If the plant is too large to move indoors, consider a covering of straw, bracken or similar in and around the foliage for protection.

Reply:I think these are one of the coolest flowers ever. This time of year they get less light and it's not as warm. So just wait untill late spring and summer then it will bloom. Mine are healthy and growing but not blooming, it's normal.

What color landscaping rock and flower colors would you recommend for a cream-colored home with blue-shutters?

We're changing our red mulch to rock and are trying to figure out what color/type of rock would go best with our home. We're also adding concrete edging and some more flowers (we're in Minnesota). I'm so bad at this and would love some expert opinions. Our house is cream/linen with blue shutters and a "weathered gray" roof, which is actually dark brown looking.

We were considering lava rock pebbles (burnt red), Colorado sunrise stone (creams, whites, and browns), or Mountain Blend stone (mix with slight reds, tans, grays), but we haven't really looked at places with a ton of selection and aren't set on anything.

For flowers, I was thinking reds, yellows, and blues/purples; however, a neighbor had a mx of pinks, whites, yellows, and purples that looked cute and cheery.

Also, the edging can have several colors in it, so I want to tie it in with everything. Any suggestions?

HELP! Any advice is truly appreciated. The BEST answer gets a batch of 7-Layer bars sent to them.

What color landscaping rock and flower colors would you recommend for a cream-colored home with blue-shutters?
Hi... I like either the second or third rock mix... not the solid red one. The lava rock sounds a little harsh colored.

I would recommend a multi-season plan. Here's one that I think would look lovely:

Spring: Plant a bed full of all types of daffodils, with patches that bloom very early, early, mid, and late season. Choose some that are bright yellow, some bicolors... look through the bulb selections and go wild. When you plant these, also plant a LOT of blue grape hyacinths. You plant the daffies deep, and then fill with dirt, and poke grape hyacinths in RIGHT in among them. About 3 grape hyacinths per daffodil. When this blooms, it will be like a sea of blue with yellow above. It's a lovely combination. Also, the critters Do Not Eat either of these! And they multiply season after season, so you can put them in spaced a bit this year, next year you'll have more, and the third year it'll really come into its own.

Summer: Put in some perennials. I would recommend some campanula (bluebells) in blue and white. The blue will be great with your house, and the whites are pretty too. Tuck in some pinks (dianthus), both the taller biennial Sweet William and the perennial clove pinks, which are good for the edges. Add a clump of iris (they come in many colors and you can choose some to match your house) for early summer, and a clump or two of daylilies for late (try a yellow patch with the tall Hyperion (scented) in back and the shorter reblooming Stella de Oro in front. Or go for cream and pink.

Fall: Make sure you buy some mums! Small pots of mums are a great value if you're planting for permanent gardens. You can get them in summer and place them in groups, then you have the blooms all autumn, and every year after. You can get great colors... and you can change your color scheme to rusts, deep burgandies, harvest golds and oranges for the season. Add a few Autumn Sedum.

All Season: Fill in your perennial garden with annuals. You can change your colors every year if you like. I love petunias for the color range and the fact that they spread out and fill areas well. I adore the tall pink cosmos, too, for filling in the back of a garden that's newly planted.

All of these work in my zone 5 New Hampshire garden, and should be ok in your area too.

Do you know the name of this blue flower?

I can't find a pic of it anywhere but it is almost a teal colour. Its shape is similar to a Bird of Paradise, I think but it is much smaller. I thought it might be a type of tropical flower that is dyed blue but I am not sure... all I know that it is a much different blue than most 'blue' flowers like hydrangeas, etc. Names and/or links to pictures would be greatly appreciated as I am using a dark teal as one of my wedding flowers and I thought it might look good for the boutonnieres.

Reply:That should be fine. Check out bridal pictures and pay attention to color schemes.
Reply:It depends on what hue of blue the dresses are. If they are bright blue, then NO WAY! If they are more robin's egg blue, then that can be beautiful. If you're going with a brighter blue, then I would use flowers that are not as bright. Maybe a pale pink or coral. I wouldn't have your flowers and your dresses the same intensity of color. I think it will be overwhelming. If you have to pick one to keep, keep the dresses! A bronze or champagne color dress or brown dress would look beautiful against red flowers. Good luck!
Reply:i actually think that will be very pretty! I believe the dresses will be a darker blue right? that will make the flowers, berrys, and pine pop out!
Reply:My cousin's girls wore navy blue and carried bouquets of solid red roses and they looked beautiful! Go for it!

i think the last link on Riss's comment is lovely that would be nice with blue dress.
Reply:your flowers are suppose to reflect your style and personality so what ever you like.
Reply:Depends on the colour blue,if it's a navy blue or a darker blue, it might go well, you could perhaps ask for a silver or winter white ribbon to go with them. If it's it's more of an ice blue probably not. But hey it's your day, the florist should be able to help you with what flowers go with what colours.
Reply:Sounds pretty just as long as it's not AMERICAN flag blue.... they might all look like miss america!!
Reply:It would depend on the shade/color of blue. If it's a bright blue, it will look more like 4th of July than a winter holiday. However, it's your wedding, and you can work with the florist to come up with something that would look just as you want it to look. Good luck!

Lamp Gone With The Wind or Hurricane Electric Blue?

I have been looking for a Gone With The Wind or electric Hurricane lamp in blue. I want a medium or semi-dark blue. Everything I find is white with blue flowers. I can only afford to pay about $55 each plus shipping at the very most. If you know where I can find a pair or have a pair to sell I would love to hear from you. I would like them to be 19 inches tall at the least.

Reply:Maybe u could try the big hardware stores like Home Depot or Lowe's. If they don't have them maybe they could order them within reasonable price. Ask a manager or supervisor in that dept. so if they don't have them, they maybe able to direct u somewhere in that particular city that may have them. Also try flee markets, smaller stores for these items. U never know where u may find them at. U may also try Pier 1. Good luck.

October wedding in Texas.Suggestions for purple, blue, yellow, orange, pink flowers? Main color dark purple...

I am getting married in Oct. in Fort Worth, TX. I am looking for purple flowers mostly, with some suggestions for bright blue, magenta, yellow and orange too. My main color is dark purple, so I want to stay away from pastel lavender or lilac. I'm not a huge fan of roses, but I'm going to be making my own bouquet so I want flowers that are easy to work with. Here are some bouquets I like to give you an idea of what I'm looking for:

Calla Lilies are very nice and come in a variety of purples to blue-ish. They also have stems in orange and yellow. You could use roses, carnations, daisies, mums or anything else to fill in if you like.

Magenta and orange you can get lillies.

What is the blue flower that blooms in CT for nearly two months -- in bloom now?

Is it chickory? I've never been to CT, but I've seen it in Maryland, and it's in bloom now in the midwest. It grows wild by the roads, has foliage that looks kind of like a dandelion and flowers similar to daisies. It grows a foot or two in height. Rabbits love to eat it.

Okay, try this link of blue/purple wildflowers in CT! It even mentions chicory:

Reply:Would need to see a picture. Maybe its Chickory. Chickory often grows along the roadside in NY and has a purplish flower.
Reply:Corn flower? they bloom in Ohio-- considered a wildflower there.

Natural white roses... how do i change them into blue?

i want my wedding centerpieces to have blue flowers in it, since it's beach themed.

how do i dye them?

Natural white roses... how do i change them into blue?
Get some blue spray paint, they make paints specially for flowers and those will hold up best (check with a florist, or maybe a craft shop). Place a big piece of plastic on the ground to protect the space around you, then hold each rose individually and spray lightly, turning the rose steadily in your hand to evenly coat. You want to hold the spray paint about six to eight inches away from the rose. Practice on a few extra or cheaper flowers first to get the hang of it. Wear light gloves -- it will stain your hands blue for a couple days, and you don't want blue hands at your wedding!

For an absolutely beautiful blue tipped or frosted look, put down a piece of plastic then spray a puddle in one spot on it. You can add some fine glitter for an added touch. Then lightly dip and roll the top of each rose in the blue paint. This takes a light touch. Again, practice on a couple extra or cheaper flowers first. This is an incredibly pretty way of doing it and it is the way I would definately recommend! It looks GREAT. And, you don't stain your fingers ;)

Alternately, you can place some blue food coloring in the water that the cut roses are in about 48 hours before they're placed into the centerpiece. This will be less reliable, though -- the color doesn't look as good, isn't as even, and the flowers are more likely to wilt.
Reply:Food dye in the water? But can't really trust that it's going to turn out like you hoped though, since you'd need them to also be fresh... Or perhaps lightly spray them with spray paint, but I'd experiment well enough before hand to make sure that it wouldn't make the rose wilt and die.
Reply:You put the flower stems in blue food coloring and let the flowers drink. The longer they stay in the more of the flower will turn blue. I suggest you test this first to see how much food coloring and how long it takes.
Reply:Make sure to cut the ends under running water (diagonally) then put them in a vase with water and blue food coloring
Reply:You can find several 'home recipes' to do this - or you can order them here:

http://www.flowersareus.com/info.asp?id=...
Reply:cut them and then place them into a vase/container that has water

then add blue food coloring to the water

in a couple of days the roses will be blue

What can I use to get a really clear shade of blue in my vase (so it looks like blue ocean water)? natural?

my centerpiece idea:

fish bowl, with floating flower, %26amp; clear blue water

what else can I add to my bowl? I can only think of rocks, but is there anything shinny I can add also?

Food coloring should work for the blue color. You could also add marbles or beach glass (from a craft store) and shells.
Reply:you can use blue food coloring to color the water, you could us coins , or marbles they also make different colored glass bead, that you could use , should be able to find them in your hobby and decorating stores like hobby lobby, and pottery barn.

What type of plant grows on a thorny vine, has a small white flower, and a dark blue berry?

The flower is white with a blue hue. it has 5 petals, and is star shaped. it is a vine type plant, and I noticed some small thorns on it. The dark blue berry has several seeds inside.

nasty stuff... yank it and toss it....NOT in the compost tho....
Reply:Sounds like it might be blackberry. They do not grow as a bush but as a vine. Not knowing what part of the country you are in, really can't say for sure. If you are in the Texas, Arkansas, etc. area, they are quite common. Very good to make jam, jelly, cobblers and I have known people who canned them. If they are blackberries, be sure and make a cobbler and top it with ice cream. It is delicious.

I want to make my own wedding bouquets to save money does anyone know how to die flowers like these blue ones?
I'm going to be honest and say that looking at that picture closely those could be paper flowers (the blue ones). The way they are kind of folded in the front of the bouquet gives me doubt that they are real. If they are paper, your life just got easier.
Reply:I would suggest talking to a florist about getting flowers like that. Because if you don't do it just right they could look extremely wilted by the end of the day or even the end of the ceremony, the flowers are important.

So do the rest of the flowers yourself, order from wherever you want, just go to an actual florist and get a bunch of those done for you to pick up.

Id hate for you to put all the work and money into it and it not turn out right.
Reply:The name of those flowers is, I think, something like stephanotis. You do use food coloring to dye them; place the drops into water and put the stems into the water. They'll suck up the water and turn blue.
Reply:I agree with the food coloring in the water. I acutally added silk stephanotis to my fresh tulips because of the price of the stephanotis. With a flower that small, its possible for you add them in silk and it not be noticable.
Reply:Put them in a vase as you normally would then add about 10 drops of food die in the water leave them for a few hours and the water will be sucked up there stalks! It's really funny to whatch as well as giving you good results!! good luck for the big day!!!
Reply:I believe those flowers are dyed with a spray bottle filled with the die, then misted over the flowers.

As for the type of dye, I don't know - Food coloring should work, but it might be something special. Sorry.

Good luck, and Congratulations!
Reply:In science class we once added food colouring to the water, and the petals changed colour. I also saw on a wedding show, people spray painting the flowers different colours. It worked, but they were for decoration, not for the bouquet, so I don't know if the paint would come off on your outfit.
Reply:If you do use dye, make sure it's enough in advance for it to dry and be wary of food coloring if you're not going to "put it in the water" routine, because that crap stains like h*ll -- watch your fingers!
Reply:By the way, the flowers in that picture are real but you could still do the same with silks.

The flowers aren't dyed, they are painted. Adding dye to the water works with flowers like carnations but the results are pretty unpredictable and sometimes you get a really streaky look.

You can buy special flower paint but it's expensive. Instead I would just use some food coloring diluted down in some water or even get some of the acryllic craft paints and combine with some matte finish glaze. Test out your color on some white paper until you get the shade you want then paint your flowers with a thin coat and let it dry. Have a few extra on hand in case you make a mistake but it's really quite easy.
Reply:Food coloring in the water? Thats what we used to do when I was in high school for St. Patrick's day %26amp; such.
Reply:the food coloring you buy at a cooking store would work well. I would not use the cheap food coloring as the color will not hold as well. Basically you dilute the food coloring with water, pour it in to a spray bottle, and spray them until you get the desired effect. Make sure you let the flowers dry before you re-mist them to add more color. Do not soak the flowers in the food coloring as this will wilt the flowers

Flower help! I'm wearing ivory, bridesmaids in steely blue -- what flowers do we carry?

My dress is vintage - it's ivory satin with a lot of golden hues. The bridesmaids are wearing a warm medium-blue silk. The guys are in black tuxes with tails and blue bow ties. We're going for a vintage 'feel' and aren't afraid to get creative, but we don't want to be hokey. I think the girls will cary off-white roses, but I'm stumped as to what I should carry. What do you think?

Flower help! I'm wearing ivory, bridesmaids in steely blue -- what flowers do we carry?
For vintage you might want to stick with a smaller, daintier boquet. Flowers that are unusual (roses are common) and perhaps something that trails a bit mixed in? Find some flowers near the color of the bridesmaid dresses and mix in some ivory. Your florist is the best person to ask on the type and size of flowers and style of bouquet--they can show you everything that's available and tell you what will be in season at your event time.

I had an ivory dress (everyone thought it was white) with black lace overlays and carried ivory roses with black satin ribbon tails and black feathers poked in for contrast. It was very unique and looked perfect with the dress. The girls wore charcoal and black and the guys wore black and silver. We received TONS of compliments on all of it.

Have a happy life--Congrats!! :-)
Reply:You could carry large off white Lilies :)
Reply:I would also carry off white or cream roses. Perhaps you can mix in some calla lilies as well as smaller flowers with a yellow/gold hue to them. They will go well with the blue in the girl's dresses...even if only in your bouquet. It will be a nice contrast and make everything "pop" visually.
Reply:How about yellow roses and white roses with some baby breath?
Reply:Try something with a deeper color, like a deep garnet (not burgundy, since it might clash with the blue. Go for the deepest red roses you can find (in my garden I have Abe Lincoln roses which might be a color you might like).

The colors you have picked are nicely blended, and the deep rich red would be a nice complement.

Congratulations.
Reply:roses, but add a trace of the blue with a hydranga (sp) for some effect or to their bouquet and yours be very white - and larger.
Reply:same but a bigger bouquet! but tie in a few little blue buds with it.
Reply:Try Blue hydrangeas and Calli lilies or tulips
Reply:you shoul gave off white roses and blue ones
Reply:I think you should carry white flowers. I'm not sure what the actual flowers should be though. I don't think any other colour would really go.
Reply:small white daisies and forget me nots
Reply:calla lillies!!!!
Reply:white roses would be pretty for you too or you could have a wild flower bouquet. With your colors yellows (daffodils, lillies, or gerber daisies) would look really pretty, also add some greenery, and maybe a touch of blues or purples (Iris, or purple gerber daisies, or even tulips) The thing is your florist will know what flowers to use if you give her color ideas... that's what they are paid for! Good luck.
Reply:You can carry roses as well. If you want something different from your bridesmaids, talk to your florist about dying or "spraypainting" some of the roses a light, antique blue to match the bridesmaid dresses. Hydrangeas are another popular blue flower.
Reply:White orchids, and if your florist is talented, she can get the veins in the petals blue like my Aunt did for my wedding. i'm not sure, but i think she may have put coloring in the water that they were in

Cheers
Reply:Oooohhh - sounds really lovely. I'd go with irises or sterling silver roses.... Have a beautiful life together!
Reply:Wow. That's going to be a gorgeous color scheme!

If you're going for a vintage look, most often an all-white bouquet is correct for the bride. And don't worry, most 'white' flowers are actually a bit off-white. But if your bridesmaids are carrying all-white flowers, you might consider adding a few blue blooms or soft yellow ones to your bouquet.

Roses are always a great choice for weddings, but don't limit yourself to them (unless that's what you really love). Other traditional wedding flowers include: stephanotis, crysanthymums, daisies, tulips, orchids, and various small lilies. Most of these are also available in multiple colors, including that yellow I was talking about, which would tone beautifully with your ivory gown.

A quick google image search for bridal bouquet + the approximate vintage of your gown (1930's, pre-WWI, whatever it may be) will turn up some good ideas on shapes and general sorts of flowers as well.

Best of luck with this. I'm sure your wedding will turn out beautiful.
Reply:Here are some pictures:
Reply:Hydrangeas will look beautiul. Blue delphinium is also a lovely accent flower. If you are going for a vintage look then purple, ivory and light pink roses would be pretty. My girls wore periwinkle and I gave them brightly colored flowers. Hot pink %26amp; yellow roses with bright purple irises and light blue delphinium accents. I think that is a more modern look though.
Reply:well any color works well with blue. different hues of yellow would be pretty f you're getting married in the spring. i think different white flowers including roses mixed with pretty green accents would be pretty.
Reply:I would do a mixture. Try the offwhite roses and calla lillies together. They make a beautiful hand tied bouquet.

This website has a bunch of different bouquets. I personally would go for something different with lots of color. Another idea, is to do some research and find out what kind of bouquet would have been used around the time the dress was made. Take the vintage theme all the way.
Reply:With most vintage weddings, make sure the bouquet is the Cascade style. You might want to get a mixture of white roses, lilies and Star of Bethlehem (Chincherinchee). It will look rich and elegant. Tie in blue by using a blue ribbon. But if you want to include a bluew flower, go for blue hydrangea.

and ill have a white dress with a bouquet with -

green flowers - probably small hydrangea,

white roses,

and a tiny tiny tiny bit of blue - maybe orchid - like the blue in this one - http://www.bloomeryweddings.com/portfoli...

would that look good?

Blue dresses? green flowers?
I think you can do it. The dress can't get any less blue and still go with the hydrangeas. Don't fret the green, it will set off the blue nicely. More white you'd need a texture change and that's not easy.

Don't be too picky with the blue flower in your bouquet, choices are limited in blues.

I know you are obsessing about everything now, but my mother's friend did weddings for years and said, "remember the 3 foot rule, nobody else sees the details beyond 3 feet." And frankly nobody but you really cares. I know it's harsh, but true. Relax, have fun, and take some of the energy you are putting into this wedding into your relationship with your hubby to be. Congratulations. P.S., don't smash wedding cake into each other's mouth. It's not cute, shows a need to dominate. Be adults.

My wedding colors are black and blue, but I'm havign trouble finding flowers?

I'm having a "boxing" theme wedding, so I have chosen the colors black and blue. I will be dressed as one of those ring girls, and the notary officiating the ceremony will be the ref, my groom will of course wear a boxing robe and shorts! The groomsmen will all have fake black eyes, but I can't find the right kind of flowers... I want the bouquets to be all taped up, just like boxing gloves, but the florist won't do that and says she can't find black flowers... what do I do? Are there any black flower varieties, or should I use fake flowers and make my own arrangements?

My wedding colors are black and blue, but I'm havign trouble finding flowers?
use red like boxing gloves.
Reply:Use white flowers and put them in a bowl with food coloring 2 get it 2 the exact colors u want them. cheap, but it works!
Reply:if that it really the concept that you want for your wedding ....well, it's just your choice...that's your wedding...you are exactly correct that we cant find flowers colored black...so all you just need to do is to make use of fake flowers and make your own arrangements
Reply:do you like carnations? they are the easiest flower to dye. purchased white ones, and using food coloring mixed with water, let the canations stand in the water-stems in water- until you see the white turn colors. the longer they sit the darker they'll get.
Reply:I really hope this is a joke. I can't imagine someone actually getting married in this fashion, but to each his/her own.

Use the fake flowers. They last longer and hold up better and you can get any color you want.
Reply:you could use white roses and have your florist put black tips on them, they tip them in back and only the very ends are black.

There are many varieties of Lillies, Gerbers, snapdragons,Clematis that work well.
Reply:u can dye flowers.
Reply:There are such things as black roses, but they are very expensive. Go with the fake flower arrangement. Use black and light blue. That will bring the boxing theme all together!
Reply:Talk to more florist for ideas.
Reply:I would just stick with blue flowers. Unless you spray paint baby's breath black.
Reply:Use fake flowers, florist have to spray paint real flowers and won't do that because they think there reputation will look bad. You could always do this yourself.

By the way I think that sounds like a fun wedding, have fun planning it!

Reply:fake flowers and arrange them yourself.

i made mine and i still have them around the house.
Reply:I'm sorry, but that sounds awful. I got married last year and had a very traditional and beautiful Greek Orthodox wedding - and the thought of you having a "boxing" theme just makes me sad. Reconsider traditional - it will be fantastic and you will have an easier time making choices on flowers and so forth.

Blue Bridesmaids - Color of flowers? ... Oui Vey?

Turns out the bridesmaids will be the color of Serene blue, but now they're having a hard time finalizing the color of the flowers for the centerpieces and for the bouquet they will be holding.

They're hoping for the centerpieces to be Red flowers (roses mostly) with a pop of pink to lighten it up a bit (since it's right between winter and spring) and with that comes the beautiful latin lady rose? Think that'll work okay?

They don't have to be light colors do they? They're looking for a classy look... maybe a little more on the elegant side... and to show beauty in a bold way yet still have everything blend.

Serene Blue ( not navy and not sky blue) , red/pink flowers (but they want something special for their bouquets?), and champagne-ish/gold-ish tablecloths and chair covers?! Hmm...

(It won't be a "rainbow of colors" will it? The hall is a beige/off-white color mostly, by the way.)

... And should the bouquets of the bridesmaids be similar to the centerpieces (yet unique?!)

Reply:Are your bridesmaids smurfs?
Reply:It's your wedding, you can have the bridesmaids carry whatever colors in their bouquets you want. Just about any flower will go with blue. I would keep it more seasonal, but that's me. Red roses are ALWAYS classic, elegant, and in good taste.

My advise to you is to not overthink this, and it's looking like you are. Just go with your first gut feeling. If you like the way it looks, and it sounds good to you, then go for it, and don't worry about it anymore. You'll drive yourself crazy between now and the wedding if you 2nd guess every decision you make.

Good luck with the rest of your planning, and congrats on your upcoming marriage!
Reply:That sounds great! My bridesmaids will be wearing Sky Blue dresses, and we are using a vibrant, medium pink floral scheme too. They will have small handtied bouquets of bright pink dahlias and seeded eucalyptus wrapped in white ribbon.

The reception site sounds perfect for taking on whatever color scheme you choose! And cream is always a nice base-Pinks and reds will certainly go with that. With golds, reds and pinks the reception site will be really oppulent.

The bouquets should mimic the centerpieces if you're going to be using them as part of the decor, or if the ceremony site is the same as the reception site. If it's a whole other location, or you won't be using them as part of the decor, then they can be whatever you want. They should still have the same tone and style as the rest of the decor, though. You don't want a bizarre bridesmaid bouquet if everything else is super elegant and conservative, and vice-versa.

Have fun with it....and talk to your florist. They will know what color schemes will match everything.
Reply:i think it should all match but not all cuz it will look to...how do I say it fake and less festive

make it match but give it a lil blend

red roses are to expensive but pink ones are not die to the dying of the flower

and blood red and blue do not match

that will give it an elagent classy feel not a funural classy

but something fot the new millenum wich isnt all alians and metallics

it is a wedding after all
Reply:You could go very neutral and stick with cream for a simple and elegant look.

I agree with other people that yellow would also look great as it compliments blue and is very bright and sunny.

Pink would also work, but I would not mix it with red, pink and red are an uncomfortable clash in my opinion.

If you want something special then use orchids, there are beautiful orchids that are pale white with a kind of spotted pink middle, very elegant.
Reply:red and blue sounds awful sorry. I'd do yellow. (I'm a designer too, I know a bit about this.)
Reply:I too think you have too many colors going on here. Though you are getting a lot of suggestions for yellow, I'm going to suggest peach roses. http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=h...

Red and pink are 'common' and IMHO a little 'overdone'. Peach tones would highlight against the blue wonderfully and you could still use the champagne linens in the beige hall. The champagne and peach play together nicely and you could add some soft gold accents to the centerpieces. The bouquets and centerpieces do not need to match per se but they should at least coordinate.

Good Luck
Reply:well here is the problem...if you get too many colors, it will a little rainbowish...your talking, pink and red, then blue and then beige/off white, champagne/gold...green is the only color you havent said...

Take a step back. What color is important?? Probably, this blue color you have in your dresses. The champagne color, by nature, will look great with it. Now the flowers, do you want red? A take of red white and blue? Depends on how its used. Im sure the bride's flowers will be white...however, doing the bride's flowers in all red roses, holding the stems with a champagne ribbon holding them together would look great. When you do that, you can actually use an off white rose, with a splash of another color if you wish. The ribbon around the stems can be the champagne as well if you wish. The flowers dont need to be the same as the brides.

Now for the center pieces. If your mainly using flowers, start with the off white roses. Use a blue ribbon that matches the blue of the dresses. Also, you can bring in a hint of red...maybe pedals along the table or something.

I think you need to go back and decide what color's are most important. And then go from there.

I like do do a little wedding planning on the side, so if you want to bounce ideas off me, let me know.

Reply:get rid of the red. your blue is too dark to have red. go pale pink, cream, or white. or yellow like others suggested
Reply:I agree a really pretty yellow would compliment the blue, reguardless of the blue it is! There just seems like there is tooo many colors going on! Is there a theme? That may help you stick to a color group! All the commotion of odd colors will take away from the bride!
Reply:blue with red will become patriotic

what about yellow and white flowers to usher in spring with your blue dresses as the background?
Reply:pink and red might be ok... i think if you want to go with those colors esp. with the serene blue, i would stick to one of those... most likely pink.

HOWEVER... if you are just up for the elegant style of the rose, i would suggest yellow. Yellow and blue are complementary colors. Absolutly beautiful together, and really stand out against each other. I have seen other weddings use these colors, including my own...very classy and elegant. (and not so cliche liek the red or pink rose.)

Have fun....remember it's your wedding whatever you choose will look simply beautiful i am sure!!

Reply:Make the bridesmaid flowers similar to the centerpieces. If you start branching out much more, it will be a rainbow of colors. But if the bouquets match the centerpieces, it should really unify things and bring it all together.

Odd spiny soft blue flowers with odd bulges on top?

Odd spiny soft blue flowers with odd bulges on top?
This flower is Love in the Mist (Nigella damascena) a member of the buttercup family. It is also known as Persian Jewels, Fennel flower, and Devil in the Bush.
Reply:It's going to take awhile for that image to unload, and I'm not willing to wait. From your description, I'm thinking these might be what we call maypops or passionflowers in South Carolina. Google those terms on some garden sites %26amp; see if that's it. Passionflowers grow close to the ground on vines.
Reply:Love In The Mist, my father used to grow them.

I have Delphiniums that are blooming purple instead of blue like they are supposed to...?

I think it has to do with the soil alkalinity or acidity. If the flowers are supposed to be blue, and are purple instead, which does my soil have too much of? How do I fix it? I live in Southern Michigan. My other blue flowers have a slight purplish tinge to them, too.

I have Delphiniums that are blooming purple instead of blue like they are supposed to...?
Too much blue indicates to much alkali...add Miracid

Too much pink indicates too much acid...add Miracle Gro
Reply:It could be that they were "cross pollinated" with a "purple one", so you will have purple instead of blues.

I once grew an Atlantic Giant Pumpkin in my Brother in Laws yard. He had a garden near by and all his squash were "orange"...

Man, was he a bit upset about it...But, I thought it was funny, because we would never have imagined THAT would happen...now, I know about cross pollination :)

I wish you well..

My bridesmaids are wearing blue what color should my flowers be?

I will be getting married in the fall. I will be wearing your typical wedding dress. Here is a link to see the dress: http://www.bestbridalprices.com/mori-lee...

The bridesmaids dress will be a blue. I have not decided what kind of dress they will be wearing.

My bridesmaids are wearing blue what color should my flowers be?
My suggestion is this. You are wearing white and the bridesmaids are wearing blue. Why don't you carry a bouquet of a single color roses and then for the girls, blend 2 to 3 different color of flowers. I just got married and my colors was kiwi, lavender, and yellow. I carried a bouquet of assorted yellow flowers and the girls carried a mixture of the colors above. It really brings out the colors and is not just the plain bouquet. Find a color that you like then just do and assortment of that color, they don't have to be the same flower. Do that with the girls too. It will be really pretty. Suggested colors. Pale pink, yellow, white, depending on what color of blue, you could also do red. Congrats.
Reply:For yourself, white. Use silver in the bouquet sparingly..silver cord or small silver ornaments or rhinestones set in silver, or thin silver metal thread. Talk to several florists. Show them the colors of the gowns...yours too...and see what they suggest.

For the bridesmaids...stay with fall colors. Hopefully their gowns are not a pastel blue. There are natural dark blue flowers. They can be arranged with white flowers (carnations will keep your cost down). You can add silver ribbon bows to theirs to tie it in with yours.

Your table flowers can be arranged in silver pots which come in metal or plastic (cheaper)...on blue tablecloths. BUT blues are hard to match. I'd go with orange, yellow, rust and lots of green leaves for the bridesmaids.
Reply:Wow your dress is beautiful.

I was just a bridemaids in my sister-in-laws wedding and our dress were also blue. Our bouquets had white roses and carnations with blue flowers (sorry I don't know the name of them). But here's some pics of the bouquet:

Reply:What shade of blue? I did navy dresses and fuschia flowers(Gerbera Daisies). It turned out GORGEOUS. The fuschia really popped against the navy. You could also possibly do a periwinkle or a melon color. Look at theknot.com for ideas. They have a million. Congratulations and GOOD LUCK! Enjoy your wedding, it goes VERY fast. Oh, and I had a TON of problems and disappointments with our VERY expensive photographer. If there are certain pictures you want, even if you think they should be thought of, make a list and give it to him/her. I thought things like the bride with her parents would be standard, but after I got my proofs, I realized he never took them. I'm devastated about how many photos he DIDN'T get. If I had it to do over, I'd make a LONG, LONG list!
Reply:You don't state what shade of blue so it's hard to give you a definite answer. What I can tell you is that the flowers need to have a strong contrast to the dresses - or they don't show up during the ceremony or in the photos; after spending a lot of $ on flowers, you want them to pop!
Reply:Either you could have white flowers for yourself and blue flowers for them, or you could have white and blue flowers for them and white for yourself or white and blue for you and blue for them. I would do the last one if it were me.
Reply:Wow what a beautiful dress! You not only will stun your groom but also all who attend!

I have a crawling type plant in back yard it is going up the house it has little white flowers?

and some little dark blue flowers on it can anyone tell me what kind of plant this is please and thankyou

I have a crawling type plant in back yard it is going up the house it has little white flowers?
I can't think of anything that has both white and dark blue flowers. The first thing that came to mind is catbriar/greenbriar and mile-a-minute, but it's probably not either of those. Could it be morning glory? I've seen morning glory vines with small white blooms. Those curly things are called tendrils and are common on climbing vines.

It's definitely not Vinca. Vinca is a bedding plant. It doesn't climb or make tendrils. There is an unrelated plant called Vinca Vine, but I've never seen it flower.
Reply:It's hard to say without a better description (such as the number and arrangement of leaves, patterns on the leaves, form of blooms, etc.)

There is a variety of Vinca that fits your general description. Most Vinca produce blue-purple blooms, but some do produce white.

HOW DO YOU DYE NATURAL Flowers?

I WANT TO HAVE A BEACH THEME WEDDING AND WANT TO DYE SOME WHITE FLOWERS BLUE.. NO TOO MUCH BUT just TO HAVE A LIL' OF BLUE IN MY CENTER PIECES.

ANY SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO DO THIS?

HOW DO YOU DYE NATURAL Flowers?
Try using a white rose, daisy or carnation...put them in a vase with water that has a few drops of drop of red, yellow or blue food coloring...if you want the color green...for say ST Patrick's day...use equal drops of blue and yellow...if you want purple...use equal drops of blue and red :)
Reply:all of the other answers are true about dying, but if you go to a craft store they have fresh flower spray paint. It works great to and 1 can will go a really long way. Its much easier to spray rather than dying. Just remember to only spray them lightly. hope this helps
Reply:Depending on what type of flower, you can leave them in blue food colouring. Carnations work well but just the edges turn blue.

What is the primary pigment responsible for blue, lavender, and purple flowers?

anthocyanins

On animal crossing for ds how do u make blue flowers????

Blue roses are a hybrid of purple and black roses. You get black roses by crossing two red ones, and purple roses are a cross of two white. Blue pansies are a cross of two white pansies.

Go to http://www.animalxing.com/hybrids.php if you want more information on hybrids.

On animal crossing for ds how do u make blue flowers????
Blue, Black or Purple Flowers:

Peacock Butterfly: March to September, until noon; May to June, noon (220

Bells)

N.B. Black flowers, like black roses, black tulips or black cosmos are

hybrids as are purple flowers like purple tulips and purple pansies. To find

a Peacock Butterfly, it is necessary to create hybrid flowers. A Peacock

Butterfly will be attracted to another hybrid, a blue pansy.

Blue Bonnet flowers in Texas?

I love this part of the month in Texas..After a good rain, the flowers are about to burst out of the drought stricken cocoons....I want to know where is the best place to view these beautiful flowers...Any places near New Braunfels, or Seguin? Or the Hill Country?

Blue Bonnet flowers in Texas?
You're not going to believe this, but the interstates! State workers sprinkle the seed in the esplanades of the interstate highways (for you, that would be I-10 and I-35).

I've made many a drive from Houston to S.A. in March and April before. There are Bluebonnets and Indian Paintbrushes by the billions along the way. People stop and get their pictures taken in what look like fields of bluebonnets when in reality tractor trailers are zooming by ten feet away.

Oh, and this is my 1,000th answer!

I'm going to go off and buy myself a drink... of root beer.
Reply:They are planted along highways....arent they pretty!!
Reply:near by to San Antonio 471 going from San Antonio to Castorville

Further out going up 55 from Uvalde toward Rocksprings in the mountains.

Another close by Medina River under 1604 going north to 471
Reply:Go out by 1604 and IH 10.
Reply:Hmmm...I've seen them everywhere I've been. We have quite a few up here in East Tx!
Reply:Anywhere along 1-35 is good, near New Braunfels.

Also anywhere near Burnet or Llano are also good, can't remember the Highway, but if you google Bluebonnet Trail, you will find some good stuff.
Reply:There is a really neat wildflower center just outside Fredericksburg. You can get all kinds of seeds there too if you want bluebonnets in your own yard.
Reply:My favorite place for bluebonnets is in Fredericksburg. It is a great little town and the drive from San Antonio to there is really beautiful...

Trying to think of all the blue florist for my bridemaids bouquet?

Do you know any types of blue flowers?

Trying to think of all the blue florist for my bridemaids bouquet?

Reply:Sprayed daisies and carnations are really pretty in a bouquet.

They aren't blue naturally, but look really nice anyhow.
Reply:I had blue in my bouquets as well.

Delphiniums are long sprays of dark blue flowers.

Forget me nots are a violet blue little flower

Hydrangeas were used in the arrangements (not the bouquets)

You can sometimes find blue fox glove or glads too.

I didn't want spray painted - I wanted natural.
Reply:hydrangeas
Reply:i think you can have roses airbrushed..........

From my experience. i am having tiffany blue for my girls and champange color wedding dress... well while i was at the bridal shop the lady held up some flowers that were cream with a slight touch of pink and I was shocked !!! how beautiful the color bounced off the blue and my dress . I would 've never have thought it would work let alone work together so well...

I originally wanted daisies. ... but now I have off white roses with slight pink details and crystals in the flowers.

maybe take one of the bridesmaid dresses to hobby lobby and hold it up to differant flowers there and you may find something else that bounces off the dress that you never thought would've have worked.

then just tell your florist what you are looking for.

What would be some good flowers to put in my front yard?

I have two small oak trees and I'm very bad with plants (so I want something hard to kill). So out of Balloon Flower, Blue Veronica, Columbine, Lavender which ones would be best...

What would be some good flowers to put in my front yard?
Columbine. I believe balloon flowers, veronica and lavendar would need more sun. Day lillies will grow in the shade and they are pretty indestructible.
Reply:Since I like the smell of lavender so much my choice is obvious. Lavender.
Reply:imperial tree peonies are very nice they yield up to 200giant blooms on one plant. blooms are 8" across they grow up to 6feet tall an they live forever.
Reply:if you don't have a green thumb, I'd go with a native flower. But out of your choices, I'd go with Lavender.
Reply:Veronica is probably the hardiest, then Lavender. There are lots of options. Check out these sites for more ideas.
Reply:lavender is very hardy but if the spot is very shaded hydrangeas look really nice but need a lot of water.

Can a gerbera daisy be dyed blue?

Or are there any pretty blue colored flowers that would be in season for an october wedding. Are hydrandras in season?

Can a gerbera daisy be dyed blue?
I use to dye carnations by just cutting the stems %26amp; putting them in food color %26amp; water it takes a couple days for them to turn..any white flower can be dyed. here is a site that tells of all blue flowers but they are different shades

http://www.gardening-tips-perennials.com...

http://www.annualflowers.com/manual/plpl...
Reply:Any white flower can be dyed blue. What you can do is when you're planting the flower put some copper sulfate in the ground around it. I have a friend whose mother planted a copper pipe in the ground instead. It gave the flower blue tips.
Reply:There are spray on dyes used on flowers. You can tint a white flower by placing it in water that has the desired hue of food coloring in it.
Reply:Thanks to hothouses you can get pretty much any flower you want. I have seen Gerber Daisies dyed blue.

How would i find the genotype in the blue flowered plant?

1. take the seeds from the plant and germinate them.

2. Look at the characteristic colors that might be produced.

3. If they are all blue then it is homozygous. If there is another color then it is heterozygous.

Tiffany blue colored flower?

Is there a real flower that is a tiffany blue color?

Tiffany blue colored flower?
NO Not really. You would have to get them sprayed that color. Hydranga's would offer you the closest to that color. There is a pretty blue "bell flower" and Ageratum houstonianum Blue Mink is your best bets.
Reply:I think you can get roses that are near enough the same shade, they are somehow dyed by the florist.I would imagine they would be quite pricey though.
Reply:maybe, idk i think so

What flowers should i plant at my house , my house is white with dark blue shutters.?

I'm going to echo what the others said about light and soil conditions. Depending on that, I think I'd go either with bright colors like reds and yellows to provide contrast, or a white, lavender/purple and blue palette if you want a more peaceful look.

What flowers should i plant at my house , my house is white with dark blue shutters.?
Spend a hour at the plant nursery, they are usually pretty smart. Remembering the soil and sun and etc. do you want the flowers or shrubs year round or what?
Reply:if you have a window that gives you bright indirect lighting go for the ficus tree. what a difference a plant can do to a room.
Reply:Agreed with The Muse. Your colors are pretty much neutral, so you can use just about anything with that. It's just a matter of what will grow.
Reply:I agree with the 1st answer because your house's colors would look good with almost everything.
Reply:Depends more on what you like, your sun exposure, moisture and soil rather than the colours of your house.
